Coisas da rádio

Três coisas da rádio via internet que valem a pena:

- títulos dos jornais do dia por Francisco Sena Santos, somente online;
- opinião diária de Fernando Alves, na TSF;

Relicários, virgens Maria, pequenas esculturas do século XIX. Coisa pouca.

Agora acrescenta: "In some periods of my life like right now, objects are sublimations for relationships". Aqui.

Os LGBT do presidente

"Gay people have always been involved, in limited ways, in the capital’s power games (...) [a]lthough “sexual perverts” were barred from federal employment by a 1953 executive order signed by Dwight Eisenhower (...) [A]lmost 20 years later, the Civil Service Commission (now called the Office of Personnel Management) finally dropped its ban. (...)
Most of President Obama’s gay staff appointments (...) appear incidental. Nancy Sutley, for instance, a lesbian who was the first gay hire announced by the Obama administration, coordinates federal environmental policy as head of the White House Council on Environmental Quality. Fred Hochberg, dean of Milano the New School for Management and Urban Policy in New York, will lead the Export-Import Bank. Dave Noble, who directed gay outreach during the presidential campaign, is now the White House liaison to the not-so-gay National Aeronautics and Space Administration."

Corpos encostados à parede

avenida almirante reis

Os corpos encostados à parede
talvez recordem paisagens brancas,
um inverno ucraniano com árvores
perdidas na neve. Que outros olhos
viram estes olhos? Eu passo por eles,
eles não me vêem. Partilham a garrafa
de vinho, um pente. E a montra do café,
apagada e triste, serve-lhes de espelho.

O futuro está nas revistas para elites?

"[T]he trend favoring a more elite readership continued. In a difficult year [2008], magazines such as The Economist, The New Yorker and The Atlantic again saw readership gains, although the economics were still difficult. (...)
The decline in advertising the magazine industry has experienced since 2006 accelerated in 2008. The biggest hits came in declines in ad buying from automakers, pharmaceutical companies and financial service providers. (...) Just one news magazine studied, The Economist, succeeded in adding pages and advertising revenue in 2008. The readership of the British-owned magazine’s North American edition is the youngest, most educated and most affluent of all the news magazines examined, all factors desired by advertisers."

Casamento não serve

"What I don't understand is why gay men and lesbians want to get married. The unswerving fight that gay men and lesbians have waged for marriage equality has been predicated largely on the idea that traditional marriage is the best possible form a relationship can take. (...) What makes gay people think marriage will work better for them? It probably won't. (...) [A]s it is practiced in the United States, we can all agree that marriage is not perfect, and for so many of us marriage no longer suits our current emotional or social needs."

Somos jornalistas

"Nunca damos notícias sem as confirmarmos, não as damos para incomodar. Damo-las porque somos jornalistas e é essa a nossa função."
