Onde estão as letras das canções?

Agora que a televisão tem concursos para os espectadores cantarem partes de letras de canções famosas ("Chamar a Música", do Herman José, na SIC; copiado do original americano The Singing Bee), esta notícia parece anacrónica, mas não é:

The National Year of Reading campaign questioned 4,000 people to gauge the importance of lyrics and found that 90% felt that reading the words helped them gain a full appreciation of the music. But 50% said that lyrics are less accessible than they were five years ago, with fewer CDs now carrying the words.
And when you download, there are no words. Of those surveyed, 62% said they found websites storing lyrics unreliable and often incorrect, with that figure rising to 75% among 18- to 25-year-olds. (no Guardian )
